PRINCIPLES, VALUES, AND IDENTITY:

We now base ourselves, with the intention of beginning to define our aspirations and expectations as a school community, on the experience of Richard Gerver, headteacher of a primary school called Grange, in central England:

For me, “the basics”

These are the biological talents we bring into the world as organisms with an incredible capacity for learning. We are born with all the competences, with the basics that we need.

Babies and very young children have an incredible intuition, a natural creativity, and a deep curiosity. When we considered what we should do at Grange, I became obsessed with how to harness that learning capacity and discover what procedures the system used to inhibit it.
If we could solve that, then we could create an incredible learning environment.

That is our purpose:

Returning to the basics to recover our pupils’ motivation and create a true learning environment.
Families, pupils, and the professionals who make up this educational community alike have exchanged our different ways of understanding education, bringing them closer together to form a joint vision:

a shared dream of what we want OUR SCHOOL to be.
The school to which families entrust their sons and daughters; the school where pupils will spend a significant stage of their lives and mature in their personal, social, and academic development; and the centre for professional development, involvement, and commitment to society for various professionals.

Over time, the principles and goals of education have evolved, and many others have emerged as a consequence of the social changes experienced by the school’s immediate surroundings.

Our values and aspirations revolve around the following principles:

  • Inclusivity. Colegio Concertado Cénit holds the value of human dignity as its primary ethical reference, accepting all individuals regardless of their condition and helping them to develop their capabilities to the fullest.
  • Equity. Being aware of the uniqueness of each person, we dedicate all our effort to ensuring equality of opportunity and the specific support necessary.
  • Respect for pupils. We form a large family that recognises boys and girls as free and unique individuals in the process of growing. We therefore work to achieve the greatest development in their personal autonomy.
  • Participation. Our school is a pluralistic centre that welcomes everyone and encourages collaboration between families, pupils, and teachers, engaging with our surroundings and society as a whole.
  • Interculturalism. Our school is a place for meeting and exchange; as mentioned previously, a place to learn to know, respect, and live with other cultures.
  • Teaching professional competence. We are committed to continuous improvement, pledging ourselves to teaching and innovative methodologies to guarantee that all pupils develop basic competences.

We are a friendly and welcoming school.

We are fortunate to have people coming from very diverse and distant places, enriching us with their experiences and ways of understanding life. To ensure this is achieved, we must ensure that respect, tolerance, and the desire for understanding are present in every circumstance.
