PRINCIPLES, VALUES, AND IDENTITY:
We now base ourselves, with the intention of beginning to define our aspirations and expectations as a school community, on the experience of Richard Gerver, headteacher of a primary school called Grange, in central England:
For me, “the basics”
These are the biological talents we bring into the world as organisms with an incredible capacity for learning. We are born with all the competences, with the basics that we need.
Babies and very young children have an incredible intuition, a natural creativity, and a deep curiosity. When we considered what we should do at Grange, I became obsessed with how to harness that learning capacity and discover what procedures the system used to inhibit it.
If we could solve that, then we could create an incredible learning environment.
That is our purpose:
Returning to the basics to recover our pupils’ motivation and create a true learning environment.
Families, pupils, and the professionals who make up this educational community alike have exchanged our different ways of understanding education, bringing them closer together to form a joint vision:
a shared dream of what we want OUR SCHOOL to be.
The school to which families entrust their sons and daughters; the school where pupils will spend a significant stage of their lives and mature in their personal, social, and academic development; and the centre for professional development, involvement, and commitment to society for various professionals.
Over time, the principles and goals of education have evolved, and many others have emerged as a consequence of the social changes experienced by the school’s immediate surroundings.
Our values and aspirations revolve around the following principles:
We are a friendly and welcoming school.
We are fortunate to have people coming from very diverse and distant places, enriching us with their experiences and ways of understanding life. To ensure this is achieved, we must ensure that respect, tolerance, and the desire for understanding are present in every circumstance.
